What did happen to the cheese that stands alone? And just WHY is a hunk of cheese standing alone?
A famished, cheese hungry rat has a BIG problem with the farmer’s rule about the Cheese Stands Alone! Why should the cheese be lonely when a perfectly fine rat can keep it company? A cat, dog, a child, the mother, and the farmer join the rat’s hilarious quest to get a hunk of cheddar.
Ideas and Activities:
As the students come in and get settled, read or sing the familiar rhyme "The Farmer in the Dell." Take suggestions or make a chart of ideas of why the cheese stands alone in the rhyme.
