Chester's Back!

Chester the cat is back and is dueling again with author/illustrator Melanie Watt for control over the picture book. Chester's red marker interruptions in the story are hysterical and his dialog with the author will crack you up. Be sure to check out this story to see who wins the battle of the book.

Ideas and Activities:

To introduce the story, dress up like Chester on the front cover of the book and carry a red marker. Take an old damaged book that you don't mind destroying (or use a photocopy of a book) and start making changes to the story "Chester style" and describe to the kids what you are doing as you go. You could also have the classroom teacher play along with you and start writing a story on chart paper, and you play the role of Chester and interrupt by adding your red marker ideas.
